Broughton in Furness, The C walk

Keith Tattersall led the C party on a 7 mile walk.

Leaving the square in Broughton by the north east corner we cross the disused railway track and then turn right to enter fields. Heading past Wall End we cross Galloper Pool and the Kirkby Pool before contouring round Thornthwaite Latter Rigg. Crossing back over Kirkby Pool we enter Buttstead Wood before turning north past Moss Side and Wallenrigg to reach the village of Broughton Mills. Here we head south passing Lumholme, Hartley Ground and Hagg before entering the grounds of West Park. From this point it is a short walk back to the square at Broughton.

Both groups had time for a drink in Broughton. Some headed for the tea shop but quite a few of us found the Black Cock Inn. They had a good range of real ales. As we were in Cumbria, a pint of Wainwrights seemed to fit the bill.
