I did the ‘A’ party walk led by Virginia McCombe. The weather conditions were dull but it stayed dry, almost, although it was quite windy at times. The highlight of the walk was the section along Great Ridge from Lose Hill to Mam Tor, superb walking along a paved path with extensive views down to Edale on our right and Hope to our left.
The walk was just over 9 miles and we were back in Castleton with plenty of time for refreshments. My choice was a pint of Doom Bar Bitter at the Castle Inn, as recommended by David who knows a lot about such things!!!!
Doom Bar Bitter is named after the infamous sandbank at the mouth of the Camel estuary in North Cornwall. Brewed by Sharp’s brewery at Rock in Cornwall, the aroma of Doom Bar combines an accomplished balance of spicy, resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and delicious roasted notes. The mouth feel is a perfectly balanced and complex blend of succulent dried fruit, lightly roasted malty notes and a subtle yet assertive bitterness.
I rounded off the day with a portion of chips before the journey home. ZZZZZZZZZ
