Leader : Keith Tattersall.
This is a circular walk starting and finishing at Tittesworth Lake Visitors Centre. We turn right from the centre for half a mile to Middle Hulme where we enter the fields eventually passing Windygates on our way to the gap between Hen Cloud and the Roaches. Here we enter open moorland before climbing up onto the Roaches Ridge which we follow for over a mile and a half before descending to cross the road at Roach End. We make our way back to Back Forest where we turn south to enter the fields again descending past Clough Head and through Buxton Brow and Meadows farms. Continuing across fields past White Lea Head we arrive at the road at Broad Lee farm to walk for three quarters of a mile through Meerbrook back to the centre.
Length of walk : 8.5 miles. Approx 1080 feet of ascent.
Although not particularly high there is no higher land to the east of the Roaches until you reach the Urals in Russia, the farther side of Moscow.
