Beddgelert

Beddgelert.
Reccee for the A party walk.

Alan writes :-     Les, Gordon and myself set off to do the reccee for the A party walk. Our intention had been to climb Moel Hebog and continue along the ridge to Moel yr Ogof and Moel Lefn. It was not raining as we set off but conditions soon deteriorated. On the scramble on boulders near the summit it became quite dangerous. We reached the summit in attrocious conditions and made our way down steep grass via our escape route. No way could we bring a party up here.

A week later Les and I were back in Snowdonia in gorgeous conditions for reccee number 2. We set off to climb Yr Aran, returning via the Watkin path and Llyn Dinas. I had obtained the walk from the Walk Eryri site on the internet. We set off under blue skies in warm sunshine. The descriptionseemed OK although it said parts were pathless. In fact it was impossible. We just could not made any progress and eventually had to give up.

Back in Beddgelert at 1.30 pm we had lunch and then set off on plan C. A low level walk along the Aberglaslyn Pass, followed by a gentle climb up Cwm Bychan before dropping down to Llyn Dinas. It is a lovely walk with fantastic views. About 9 miles but we were tired after our exertions in the morning. Lets hope the weather holds for the weekend.
