Pauline Kieran has sent in this report of the mid-week walk on 24th June, led by mavis Whittle.
The weather couldn’t have been better for this walk, led by Mavis Whittle. Because a lot of our usual walkers were away on holiday, there were only 9 of us.
We started from Turton Tower, an historic country house near Darwen, and walked through undulating woodland, fields and country lanes. The English landscape was at its best and we took time to appreciate what a beautiful land we live in. The lack of rain over the past few months was evident in the low levels in the several reservoirs we passed.
We returned to Turton Towers for refreshments. We didn’t have time to visit the house, but had a good look round the well-kept gardens.
A lovely walk, mavis, in perfect conditions.
