Notes from Doreen

We were blessed with good weather on all our walks last week.

On Thursday we did the Reeler’s Way, a circular walk from Abbey village, along the reservoir, through woods, meadows. along the canal and under the M65 (twice)
There was enough climbing involved to make it interesting and we saw two llamas and a Gilbert at one of the farms we passed. Gilbert is a New Zealand kunekune pig, small round and with curly black and white hair – quite attractive as pigs go.

On Sunday at Grassington, the C party excelled themselves by walking along the Dales Way to Connistone Dib and then an almost vertical scramble down (admittedly only about six feet but still an achievement) to follow the gorge into Connistone, then back to Grassington through woods and alongside the river to Clinton falls.
Lovely weather throughout and a splendid cream tea as a reward for their efforts.
Approx 7.5 miles
