Bolton Abbey

Notes from Alan.

I joined the "A" party, led by Martin Murphy on a challenging 11 mile walk at Bolton Abbey.
The weather conditions were perfect with a cloudless blue sky as we set off at a brisk pace across the fells. We had lunch on the banks of the River Wharfe before beginning the stiff climb up to Barden Moor. Unfortunately we did not get to climb up the gritstone outcrop that is Simon’s Seat but continued across the moor to descend along the Valley of Desolation. However on the way down we did pass Gordon’s Seat.

All three groups were back early giving us plenty of time to explore the grounds of the Abbey.

Images from the walks are in the album > Bolton Abbey.

Images were taken by me unless stated otherwise.
