On Tuesday 9th march my midweek walk will be starting in Chester. We will walk along the Roman wallk from Eastgate to Chester Castle. This is a great way of seeing the city without the hassle of traffic and jostling of crowds of people.
We will then cross the River Dee via the Old Dee bridge to Edgar’s field where we will find the shrine to Minerva, the Goddess of Wisdom. A short walk along the river path brings us eventually to the imposing gates at bthe entrace to the Duke’s Walk, a tree lined drive leading to Eccleston village. After a short look around at the facinating architecture of the village we will walk back to Chester along the banks of the River Dee where we may see plenty of bird life. On my reccie I saw swans, blackbirds and a kingfisher.
At the end of the walk there will be a welcome cup of tea and a scone at the Heritage Centre.
